A six-member board oversees VRE. The organization also has an advisory board, one part-time employee and a steady group of volunteers.


The Board of Directors:

Chinh Chu is an investment banker who works in New York City. He has served on various corporate boards. Mr. Chu, a founder of the organization, was born in Vietnam and moved to the United States at the age of 9.

John Altorelli is a partner at the New York City law firm Dewey & LeBoeuf.

Thien Le joined VRE in 2005 and currently heads up the Disaster Relief Committee. She oversees the distribution life-saving food and water, as well as long-term rebuilding assistance, in regions affected by typhoons and heavy flooding. Born in Vietnam, Ms. Le came to the U.S. at age 9. She currently works at an investment bank in New York City.

Steven Nguyen is a director in the publishing-services industry in New York City. He was born in Vietnam and moved to the United States in 1974.

Truc To is a Principal with KPMG and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He was born in Vietnam, but left at age 2 when his father was offered a job with the BBC. He moved to the US in 1993 and currently lives in Atlanta.

Jonathan Wall lives and works in New York City, and has been with the organization since its inception in 1999. He is an architect who has worked on numerous international projects.


VRE Co-Founder:

Kathy Chu, a co-founder of Vietnam Relief Effort, is a business journalist in New York City. She was born in the United States and travels back to Vietnam regularly.


The Advisory Board:

Amy Braunschweiger is a freelance journalist and the author of Taxi Confidential: Life, Death and 3 a.m. Revelations in New York City Cabs. She serves as research director for Vietnam Relief Effort.

Mindy Williams is a business development manager for a NYC architectural and interior-design firm. She is experienced in event planning and coordination. Born in the US to a Vietnamese father, she became involved with VRE to remain in touch with her heritage.
