Hundreds of homes collapsed and scores more lost their roofs when Typhoon Lekima rammed into Vietnam in October 2007, unleashing floods in one of the country’s most impoverished areas. Winds stronger than 80 mph battered the region, and 400,000 were evacuated.

VRE aided those on the outside edge of the storm – those still ravaged by flooding, but overlooked by other relief agencies. We distributed rice, instant noodles, blankets, cooking oil and mosquito netting among hundreds of families.
