Disaster Relief

Every few years, typhoon-induced floods ravage central Vietnam, destroying houses, separating families and taking lives. Droughts can also cripple parts of the country by drying out rice paddies and crops. These natural disasters, in their most severe forms, can wipe out the livelihoods of entire villages.

Since its inception, VRE has provided affected areas with short-term provisions, like rice and mosquito netting. We also provide lasting assistance to communities by building structures to help these villages weather the storms. We concentrate on regions that are underserved when disaster hits. In upcoming years, we will continue exploring ways to mitigate the impact of disasters in affected regions. We will also keep working to help people rebuild - away from the flood regions if possible.
