We believe that education helps build the foundation for Vietnam's future. That's why it's important that children have adequate schools and the supplies that they need. This includes computers, chairs and tables.

Vietnam Relief Effort is currently working on building and expanding schools in impoverished regions so that kids can have a better chance at learning, and at life. In rural areas, adequate facilities may not exist, and it's not uncommon for children to have to walk miles each day to learn. Your support can make a difference, as it only takes about $5,000 to build one room of a schoolhouse in Vietnam.

In the future, we will also work to provide families with incentives to get children out of the fields and into the classrooms. That's because in rural areas, both parents may work in the field, leaving older siblings - who are pulled out of school - to care for the younger ones. Families may also put priority on children working to feed their relatives rather than going to school.
