In 2005, VRE funded close to hundred of cleft-lip surgeries in southern Vietnam.

Vietnamese children born near areas exposed to chemicals during the Vietnam War have a greater-than-average possibility of having birth defects, like cleft lips. Not only do uncorrected cleft lips cause problems with eating and speaking, but they can also lead to serious infections.

We sent specialists to take care of these children, giving them a greater chance to lead fuller lives.
