This four-room school, built in 2008, will give 415 children a place to learn its first year, but will ultimately benefit more than 1,500 children. Located in the Hoa Hiep Trung commune of Phu Yen, most families here make their living by fishing or agriculture, earning an average of $9 a month. The old school had a cracked, crumbling foundation, and 75% of the desks and chairs were dangerously splintered.
