John Altorelli, VRE board member and partner at New York law firm Dewey & LeBoeuf, donated $21,000 to VRE, funding this school. It opened in 2008.

The John Altorelli school, located in the Hoa Xuan Dong commune of the central Vietnamese province of Phu Yen, will help thousands of children, 220 in the first year. Most people living here earn $15 a month from farming, and a total of 130 students receive scholarships from VRE in the form of rice, school fees and school uniforms.
