VRE opened this two-room school in Tay Ninh province in 2006. It benefited 79 its first year, has already helped hundreds of students, and will ultimately be a place for thousands of children to study.

One reason VRE chose to build in this location is child trafficking. One of the main boarder crossings between Vietnam and Cambodia, the trafficking of girls across the boarder has become a serious problem.

Some girls are sold by their families; others are lured across the boarder by tales of wealth and by their own poverty and ignorance. In both cases, lack of education lies at the heart of the problem.
