In 2005, we opened the doors to this two-room school located on an island in the Mekong Delta. The original school had a cracked foundation and a leaky roof.

We built two additional classrooms for this school in 2006.

At first, 150 students benefited from these initial two classrooms, but that figure has already climbed to nearly 1,000. Ultimately, we expect the school to benefit thousands. Most families on this island in Tien Giang, a three-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City, earn their living by shrimp farming.

VRE gives 46 scholarships a year to students attending this school.
